Ostracon: Challenge Consistency of Blockchain in P2P Network – 2021 English version –

Blockchain #linedevday
Since the Bitcoin boom of 2017, blockchain has been recognized by the public as an important technology that supports transactions that cannot be falsified for the purpose of crypto assets and proof of rights. In Japan, LINK, the unique crypto asset of LINE, has been tradable since 2020, and currently, users can create their own NFTs from LINE Blockchain Developers. I will introduce Ostracon, which is the consensus layer in charge of the consistency control, distributed consensus, and safety properties based on cryptography in LINE Blockchain, which Blockchain Lab has been developing and constructing since 2019, and the aspect of blockchain as a distributed system, which is rarely talked about, comparing it with Ostracon and other blockchain technologies.

■ Speaker
Torao Takami
LINE / Blockchain Engineering Team / Senior Software Engineer
Torao Takami was a freelance financial system engineer and then worked for a web-related company, and joined LINE in 2018. Takami is specialized in the design, implementation, performance improvement, etc. of backend and frameworks, but basically, Takami aspires to be a multi-role engineer as a specialist. Inspired by local history research and the earthquake, Takami has been considering what kinds of databases can store data for 500 years and is now developing P2P/blockchain, which might be a solution.
