Blockchain is a decentralized, digital ledger that records transactions across a network of computers. Each block in the chain contains a number of transactions, and every time a new transaction is added to the block, it is added to the end of the chain. The technology is designed to be secure and tamper-proof, as each block contains a unique code, called a “hash,” that links it to the previous block. This makes it difficult for anyone to alter or delete previous transactions. The most famous application of blockchain technology is the cryptocurrency, Bitcoin.
