The founder of the decentralized social protocol Farcaster, Dan Romero, has officially joined Tempo, a Layer-1 blockchain project incubated by fintech giant Stripe. Romero made this move shortly after completing the sale of Farcaster to Web3 infrastructure company Neynar in late January 2026.
Tempo itself is an ambitious project focused on building a global payments infrastructure using stablecoins. With the support of a $500 million Series A funding round and a valuation reaching $5 billion, the project has partnered with major players like Visa, Shopify, and OpenAI to challenge the dominance of conventional payment systems.
Romero’s joining is expected to strengthen Stripe’s aggressive move to deepen its penetration in the crypto industry. There, he will work alongside renowned Ethereum researcher Dankrad Feist, who previously joined the project’s technical team.
